o
Meal 1: 3
egg whites, ¼ cup of cooked oats, raspberries, black coffee
o
Meal 2: Oreo
Quest Bar
o
Meal 3: Wegmans
Café – mushrooms, spinach, strawberries, blurberries, cucumbers, 3 eggs,
grilled tofu, tuna
o This
Monday was the most difficult because I was running around all day! Meal three
was the toughest because after a tough workout I’m used to grabbing chicken, so
being the in café I had to remind myself, “no meat”! Meal three was eaten over
many hours, holding me over because I wasn’t home from internship until about
10 PM.
o
Meatless Mondays didn’t change my eating habits
the other days of the week. Again, I am still giving up meat on Fridays because
of lent. However, I did realize how much meat I really do eat when I’m trying
to build muscle. I’m nearly dependent on chicken and lean turkey, but it’s nice
to see complimentary proteins work just as well.
o
I struggled this week, solely because I wasn’t
home from 6 am until 10 pm. I am used to packing my meals to avoid eating out.
The Wegman’s café isn’t bad, I just hate being surrounded by temptation. But,
their tofu is my FAVORITE- so I piled that right into my to-go box.
o Getting
packed salads at Wegmans is always awkward- once I have the eggs and
strawberries in there it weighs enough to cost be about $14. With the tofu box
I spent almost $20. However, it did last from 3-10 pm so it was worth the
investment. However, cooking my own meal at home would’ve been cheaper.
Jessica,
ReplyDeleteI completely know what you mean about having a busy Monday so things aren’t as easy as they seem when you have time to cook, etc.! You seemed to have done a great job though at eating well even though you were gone the whole day. Did you eat any snacks throughout the day though? I feel like an Oreo Quest Bar for lunch would not fill me up even in the least bit! I truly admire what you did for dinner though at Wegmans. That is such a good idea to be around that food. It’s so delicious there, so I do see where the temptation comes from to eat meat, but eating the tofu was such a great idea. I did not know that it was good there, so next time I go I am definitely going to try it out. I do the same thing after a long workout – that is go for a piece of chicken, and I never thought to try out tofu afterwards. I can imagine that it was expensive there though. That is my only complaint about their salad bar…as soon as you put more than lettuce into your container the price raises an incredible amount. It also must be extremely hard for you to not eat meat two times per week because of this project and because of lent, but I’m sure it’s allowing you to explore more options for finding your protein in other ways. Good luck next week!
